Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

I've been putting off reading this book for a long time simply because I don't like sad books, specifically books about cancer. I know way too many people who've suffered and lost in the fight against cancer, and I didn't want to be reminded of it with this book. After reading all the rave reviews about it though, I decided to give it a try. It was much better than I though it would be but still lacked in areas.

In this timeless new trilogy about love and sacrifice, a princess must find her place in a reborn world.

In a society steeped in tradition, Princess Lia’s life follows a preordained course. As First Daughter, she is expected to have the revered gift of sight—but she doesn’t—and she knows her parents are perpetrating a sham when they arrange her marriage to secure an alliance with a neighboring kingdom—to a prince she has never met.

On the morning of her wedding, Lia flees to a distant village. She settles into a new life, hopeful when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deception abounds, and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—even as she finds herself falling in love.

After hearing all the buzz and praise for this book through the blogosphere, I was anxious to read The Kiss of Deception. I was wildly impressed and can easily say this is one of the best books of 2014.

There's HUDSON, a small-town mechanic who is willing to throw away his dreams for true love. And BREE, a runaway who seizes every Tuesday—and a few stolen goods along the way. ELLIOT believes in happy endings...until his own life goes off-script. And SONIA worries that when she lost her boyfriend, she also lost the ability to love.

Hudson, Bree, Elliot and Sonia find a friend in Leila. And when Leila leaves them, their lives are forever changed. But it is during Leila's own 4,268-mile journey that she discovers the most important truth— sometimes, what you need most is right where you started. And maybe the only way to find what you're looking for is to get lost along the way.

The capital has fallen.

The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne. Now the nation's fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.

Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird with hope that an outlaw prince still survives.

Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova's amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling's secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction—and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for.

I started this book with high expectations and wasn't completely impressed. There were some very great parts and others I found lacking. Overall I did enjoy this series as a whole, and the ending of this book was amazing.

This week's question ~ If you had a time machine, where would you go?

I'd go to Victorian Era London! The writing and the speech and the beauty. *sigh* I'd also go to the future (maybe in 100+ in advance) just to see what was happening.

Where would you go?

My Thoughts ~ The Overflowing TBR Pile & Changes

The Overflowing TBR Pile & Spontaneous Reading

As I've now been part of the blogging community for 4 months, I've visited so many blogs and met so many awesome bloggers. Through their memes and reviews I've discovered so many new books! My Goodreads To-Read shelf is overflowing, and I keep adding more and more books to it every day. Now I'm in this anxious, frenzied state where I feel that I MUST read every YA book in existence because they all sound so awesome, and I just can't handle having a huge and wildly out of control To-Read list.

Review: We Were Liars

We Were Liars by E Lockhart

Page Length: 277 Pages

Rating: 2 Stars

A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.

We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart. Read it.

And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.

I'm back!!

Hey everyone!! I've returned :) I went away on a school trip to China for two weeks with limited wifi and blogger doesn't work well there, so I was disconnected from my lovely blogging friends and followers. :( But I did get a chance to practice my Mandarin, learn about the culture and history, and see some amazing things.
