Blog Tour ~ Fairest by Marissa Meyer +Giveaway

There's this amazing series called The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Maybe you've heard of it? New York Times Bestsellers. Insanely epic. Addictive. These books have everything you could ever ask for in a book, and I'm here to tell you why you must read this series in preparation for Fairest which is out January 27th!

1. Writing
Marissa Meyer is a fantastic author. She wows readers with her amazing writing, stellar world-building, descriptive nature, plot twists, and vivid imagination. She blends humor, romance, action, and more into her books.

2. Setting
Set in the future, this sci-fi world that Meyer has created is so fascinating. There's lots of high technology and cool tech-y things along with some space travel.

3. Characters
All of the characters in this series are so strong and relatable and awesome. They are descriptive, likable, brave, thoughtful... Told from multiple points of view in a way so that all the viewpoints contribute to the whole story, there are no weak characters. Cinder is our main character. She's brave, smart, and fierce. Scarlet is practical, sassy, and resourceful. Thorne is hilarious, and I LOVE him. Cress is so adorable and sweet and sincere. I love how innocent she is too! Even the villain Queen Levana, whom Fariest is centered around, is well depicted. I feel like she's an enigma that Meyer has managed to really help us get to know. All too often the villain is just written off as a crazy bad guy, here Meyer actually delves into her personality and past to help us understand Levana better.

4. Romance
Marissa knows how to write swoon worthy romances. She has the best OTPs ever. There's Cinder and Kai, Scarlet and Wolf, Cress and Thorne. I SHIP THEM SO HARD.

5. Action
My heart races every time I read this book. So much crazy stuff happens, I'm always on the edge of my seat.

6. Traveling
We go all over the place! We've been to China, we took a stop in France, we were in Africa. Oh and outer space for a bit. Cool right?

7. Retelling
Each book is a fairytale retelling. Cinder is a retelling of Cinderella; Scarlet, Red Riding Hood; Cress, Rapunzel. I love how Meyer adds the little details from the original take yet she twists it and makes it her own. It's not so much as a retelling as much as a new version.

8. Meticulous Planning
Meyer is a genius. There are connections and mind-blowing revelations seen throughout her books. Everything happens for a reason, everything is somehow interconnected or related. I am in awe by how well she plans out her books.

  10. Eep! I LOVE The Lunar Chronicles so much! I agree that Marissa Meyer's plot structure, world building and characters are all planned out so well that they are so realistic. I also love how the main characters are all strong females that don't bow down to men all the time. Yet at the same time, they can still be kind of girly girl and strong at the same time, like Cress. The action is amazing in these books. I think Scarlet was the best suspense wise. I couldn't stop flipping the pages. And of course, the best thing about these books is that they are fairytale retellings. Who can resist that?

  25. I'm really terrible. I've had Cinder for such a long time now but I haven't read it! I really need to get on this bandwagon because I love fairytale retellings! I'm not sure how, but I always thought Scarlet was about Snow White. No idea how that happened. Anyways, I really excited to read all of these now. Particularly the Rapunzel storyline - she's one of my favorites =D

  26. I loved the first book of this series, but my library never seems to have Scarlet in so I haven't continued! Though from what I heard, the series just gets better and better. I find it interesting how they're told from different POVs, because usually I don't like when series do that but apparently this series does it really well. You've inspired me to hunt down a copy of Scarlet, Rachel! :)
