#FantasyFebruary ~ Introduction

I'm a complete fantasy junkie, and Dana is well on her way to becoming one too! I just love getting lost in a new world where anything can happen. You all know about my addiction to royals and court politics... I'm well caught-up on reading fantasy novels that are coming out soon, but I'm woefully behind on reading the YA Fantasy classics! Dana and I wanted to devote all of February to binge-reading fantasy books, so I present to you Fantasy February!

Throughout this month starting February 1st, Dana and I are going to post mainly fantasy reviews, fantasy TBRs, fantasy-related discussion posts, and our progress! Alexa and Rachel are hosting the Flight of Fantasy challenge which Dana and I are both participating in. Here's more information on the challenge.

Originally we wanted February Fantasy to be an interactive event that everyone could join in on and we'd have a linky and everything, but we ran out of time. Feel free to join in, read fantasy books, comment on our posts, and tweet us your progress on Twitter with the hashtag #FantasyFebruary!

I've actually read most of my fantasy arcs, so it looks like I can finally spend this month catching up on YA fantasy classics I've yet to read. I hope you'll stop by to see what fantasy books we're immersed in, comment on our posts, or join in on the fantasy-reading binge!

What are your favorite fantasy books? Which fantasy books do you want to read soon?

  9. FANTASY IS MY FAVORITE GENRE. Super excited to follow you along on #FantasyFebruary!!!

As for Fantasy novels, I LOVE anything by Juliet Marlier (in YA, Wildwood Dancing is phenomenal). As for fantasy classics, my favorites are: Beauty by Robin McKinley, Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman, Sabriel by Garth Nix, Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine...I could go on...

As for what I want to read specifically in Feb--I really want to read Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard & The Sin Eater's Daughter by Melinda Salisbury!!!!

  11. Looking forward to see which fantasy books you'll read in february and who knows maybe you can make it a feature next year! I participated in sci-fi november last year and I really liked it, although it was a lot fo work as well. It's fun to focus on a genre like that for a whole month.

  17. I think I need to totally do this! I've been meaning to read Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy since it seems EVERYONE loves it, but I just haven't been motivated. So it looks like that'll likely be my Fantasy February read! Great idea, guys. :P Fantasy is awesome.

  18. EEP! I am quickly becoming more and more interested in modern fantasy. I used to only read some of the more classical fantasy like LOTR, The Hobbit and The Chronicles of Narnia, which I still love, but now I'm starting to find tons of new modern fantasy books. I can't wait to see what you read. Hopefully it'll include some of the books I've read so I can be all fangirly in the comments. :)

  20. Oooh, fun! I'm terrible at signing up for reading challenges - either I forget completely about them, or my mood reader tendencies get in the way, or they just stress me out and make me feel bad when I haven't met my goal xD But I like this approach, just having a fun month devoted to a certain genre~ I think I'll participate!

Some fantasy books I really need to get around to are: Song of the Lioness, Snow Like Ashes, Queen of the Tearling, Seraphina, Grisha trilogy, The Winner's Curse, Graceling, Fire and Thorns, The Kiss of Deception... the list goes on and on xD
I'm looking forward to #FantasyFebruary with you, Dana, and everyone else :D

  21. Fantasy is definitely my favorite genre - so I'm looking forward to all your posts this month! I'll be reading at least a few fantasy books as well. Splintered is up next, I already requested a copy to be brought to my local library from another one in the system - can't wait for it to get here! :)
