In Bookish News ~ Mid-February Report

Lots of stuff has happened in February! Our eyes have been pleased and wowed again and again with each and every cover reveal (there are so many). Our jaws have dropped after reading about the recently-signed book deals. Here's what has been going on:

Social Media News:

Author Amy Spalding decided to trash reviewers by creating a bingo card of faults she has found in reviewers and their reviews. Real classy.

Bookish Deals:

Harper Lee's long-forgotten book is being published in July this year. It's called Go Set A Watchman. I think it might be the sequel to To Kill A Mockingbird which she actually wrote first? I'm not sure exactly and I can't find any articles that give straight-up facts anymore on the details. It's just a lot of speculation and shamming and critiquing these decisions.

Balzer+Bray acquired Evelyn Skye's YA debut The Tsar's Game which will be out Fall 2016.
"In this YA fantasy, star-crossed lovers battle in a lush, magical version of tsarist Russia in 1825."

Feiwel and Friends bought Courtney Alameda's second book entitled Pitch Dark. "It is set against a future of marauding space scavengers and deadly aliens who kill with sound. "

Cover Reveals Galore:

Aren't they all so pretty?!

New Releases:

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard came out this week and as I predicted, it's already taken the YA community by storm!! I've seen countless pictures of RQ selfied with giddy owners. I can't wait to discuss this epic book with more people!

The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand and My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga also came out this week.

Well, that's my round-up!

  1. I'm so excited for Harper Lee's new book! This was the #1 thing I least expected her to do! <3 I'll definitely read it once it hits the shelves! Also, I had no idea there's a sequal to A Thousand Pieces of You. The cover is gorgeous :)

  3. HOLY CRAP THOSE COVERS!!! I am so excited for Ice Like Fire and Six of Crows in specific. Those two are SO HIGH UP ON MY LIST!
    YAY MORE COURNET ALAMEDA!

And ugh bingo card. That was so stupid. It was unnecessary drama that could be totally been avoided.

  11. I am SO SO EXCITED for Go Set a Watchman. To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book ever, and I never thought I would get another book from Harper Lee, much less a sequel to TKAM. I know there's tons of people that are raising negative opinions about it, but I'm not going to let them rain on my parade. Those covers are so gorgeous! I'm so excited for Ice Like Fire, and I love the cover. I also think I might just read A Thousand Pieces of You and Ten Thousand Skies above you just because they have gorgeous covers.

  12. Yay for all of the beautiful cover reveals! And I love how the first thing you started with was Amy Spalding and the bingo card. That's something that seriously needs to be talked about in this community. I'm actually debating doing a post on the blog about the balance of respect between bloggers and authors. -Jessica

  13. All these covers are just so gorgeous! I love them, except for the Gabriel one. It looks kind of awkward. But OMG, A Thousand Skies Above You and Six of Crows! *dies of the pretty*
And The Tsar Game sounds so good, Rachel! I need it! But 2016 feels so far away.

  14. Those covers are so gorgeous! I didn't think the cover for Ten Thousand Skies Above You could match the amazingness of the cover for A Thousand Pieces of You, but I think it looks just as great. The Tsar's Game sounds super awesome, too, even just from that short description :)

  16. THE COVERS. I love every one of those covers so much I can't even stand it. How is Ten Thousand Skies Above You prettier than A Thousand Pieces of You? I didn't think it was even possible. And Ice Like Fire? I need. And A Madness So Discreet... I can't, because I want it so badly. And Blood and Salt. And End of Days!! I cannot wait. Okay, I am calming down now (or not).

And how did I not hear about The Tsar's Game? That sounds amazing!

The Bingo Lady... it's just so dumb, because the only person she hurt was herself, really. It just doesn't make sense WHY she would have posted it, and then defended it. You're posting that the people who BUY your books are stupid... and then still wanting them to buy your books? Sorry honey, doesn't work that way.

    3) I'm so in love with the cover of Ten Thousand Skies Above You. Also, Blood and Salt looks amazing.

    4) The Tsar's Game looks like my cup of tea and I can't wait to read it!

  20. LOOK AT ALL THOSE COVERS THEY ARE GORGEOUS. One just never tires of looking at them. And I think Harper Lee's book is going to be about Scout when she's adult, but like you said, we'll never know for sure until the book is actually released. I loved HTKAM, but I really doubt I'll be reading the sequel until someone makes me haha.
