Blog Tour ~ Joyride by Anna Banks +Giveaway

Today I'm here with the blog tour for Anna Banks new book, Joyride!
Today Anna shares the top five reasons to live in the South.
You can also win a copy of her book!

Top Five Reasons to Live in the South
JOYRIDE has a setting in the south; the panhandle of Florida around the Destin area, which happens to be where I live, too. In the book, Carly and Arden enjoy the laid-back atmosphere and the predictability of a sleepy, small town—which happens to be prime pranking real estate. If you’re wondering what keeps me tucked away here, wonder no more:

  1. We have sweet tea, ya’ll. I didn’t travel a lot before I went on book tour with Of Poseidon. So when we ventured to the northern states on tour, and I asked for sweet tea, the servers looked at me as if I’d asked for an appetizer of fried kittens. But in the south? That’s the most ordered drink here. And the best sweet tea is found in little hole-in-the-wall restaurants where they add enough sugar to make it chewy. Yum!
  2. Everyone knows everyone. For. Real. The people at the bank, the post office, and the grocery store know your name. Chances are, you’re related to a few of them and don’t even realize it. If you write bad checks? Everyone knows. If you’re ordering naughty things on the internet? Everyone knows. If you’re juicing and have constant diarrhea? Yep, they know. But if you’re in need of something, or down on your luck, everyone knows—and they pitch in to help.
  3. The beautiful beaches. At least, in this area. Don’t believe me? Here is a pic. Now run along and be jealous.
  1. The food. Fried chicken. Fried green tomatoes. Fried Twinkies. Yep, you heard me. We’ll fry anything and you’re invited. You especially want to live here if you’re a cardiologist; business is booming.
  2.  You’ll survive the zombie apocalypse here. Plenty of fields to escape through. Plenty of wild game to live off. Most places are miles away from civilization—and potential walkers. And the creeks here are still clean and clear. Better pack your bags.

I live with my husband and daughter in the Florida Panhandle. I have a southern accent compared to New Yorkers, and I enjoy food cooked with real fat. 1. Believe me, I've never been to the South but I am damn curious what it's like there to live! Not jealous of the beaches because we have loads of that here in the Philippines (Caramoan Islands, anyone?) but goddamn I want some of that fried chicken! And tea! The tea I've ever drank are the commercialized ones that taste like crap.

  2. I was sold on the everyone knows everyone part! I'd love to live in a place where I know everyone by name :) And wow fried stuff? I'm game! Protection from zombies, too? Dude. I'm moving. Like, now.

  6. Ooh I loved this post! When I went to America, we went down to the South as well and omg yes I love the sweet tea! I had it so many times, ahaha. (No clue it was only in the South though, so that's cool to know!)

  7. That's so right about sweet tea! We had a friend's nephew visit them from Wisconsin. He went crazy over Red Diamond tea, I told him"please that ain't nothing" and made a fresh pitcher for him. He ended up spending the rest of his visit hanging out at our house drinking up my tea lol.

  8. Haha, love that last reason! The Zombie Apocalypse comes up in my conversations at least once a week. :P
I did love Joyride! Excited for everyone to read it.

  9. THAT BEACH. I want to be there right now, instead of doing literally anything else in the world. It's so very pretty! And I agree with Anna, southern food is amazing and sinful and the key to a heart attack ;) My best friend in high school was from the south, and she looked at us like crazy people when we didn't know what sweet tea was. We, in turn, made fun of her for wearing her coat when it was 60 degrees out and saying y'all ;)

Anyway, the book looks fabulous, and I have heard some really great things, I am excited to read it!

  10. The sunny beaches look so good to me right now with all the dark rainy clouds looming outside my window. As for the book, it sounds right up my alley with a popular boy and a shy girl, can't wait to give it a try. Thanks for the giveaway!

  12. I once took a quiz that told me what state I belonged in and it was Texas! I love the south! This book sounds so good and I cannot wait to get my hands on it! Thanks for the chance to win it!

  13. I only live a couple of states away from Anna, and her descriptions are definitely on point! When I traveled up north for the first time, I asked for sweet tea. Their response? What the heck is that? Tea that is sweet? What is this monstrosity you speak of. It is MY drink, and I am sure most southerners would agree! Now, about the book. It is very different from what I normally read, but I just don't care with this one. I WANT IT! Thank you for the giveawaY!
