Meet Alexandra Sirowy:
Meet Her Debut Novel:
Now Stella is seventeen, and she's over it. She's the lucky one who survived, and sure, the case is still cloaked in mystery—and it's her small town's ugly legacy—but Stella is focused on the coming summer. She's got a great best friend, a hookup with an irresistibly crooked smile, and two months of beach days stretching out before her.
Then along comes a corpse, a little girl who washes up in an ancient cemetery after a mudslide, and who has red hair just like Jeanie did. Suddenly memories of that haunting day begin to return, and when Stella discovers that other red-headed girls have gone missing as well, she begins to suspect that something sinister is at work.
And before the summer ends, Stella will learn the hard way that if you hunt for monsters, you will find them.
Guest Post ~ Character Profiles:
I love books with dynamic characters: ones that leap off the page and live inside your head; friends you wish could have your back IRL; and even enemies that make your skin crawl.
THE CREEPING is a YA thriller, its plot is dark and twisty, but to me, its characters and their relationships are just as important as the mystery. At the book’s core, the friendships of the female characters are among the most important.
I think there’s no better way to introduce my book and to prepare for its release on August 18th (!!) than by sharing them with you. I hope you learn to love Stella, Zoey, Michaela, and Cole as much as I do.
The Rundown: When Stella and Jeanie were 6 they were picking strawberries in the woods. Only Stella came back. Jeanie never did. Stella’s had to accept that whatever happened to Jeanie is lost in the never never land of her memory. She’s done more than alright the last 11 years and that’s mostly because Zoey has been there pushing her forward. She’s a reporter for the Wildwood High School Herald; no puff pieces here. Stella writes about real issues like climate change. And sure, being the “one who survived” has earned her an epic amount of popularity, but Stella really just cares about her friends, their summer cove days, and her gorgeous, lacrosse playing crush – until a discovery at a bonfire drudges the past into the present and sends Stella down a path of ancient evils and small town secrets.
Moto: What she wishes it is: “I’m the lucky one.”
What it really is: “If you hunt for monsters, you’ll find them.”
Fav Candy: Green gummy bears and green sour gummies
The Rundown: Stella’s best friend since forever. A devil-may-care attitude. She isn’t your typical mean-girl. She’s fiercely loyal and would do anything – take any risk, fight any battle, flip off any hater – for her best friends. Three-time homecoming royalty; student gov social chair; five-time lead actress in Wildwood High School drama productions. Zoey lives for now, now, now. She’s ready to stare down the darkness threatening Savage with Stella, but when their childhood ex-friend (and Stella’s first crush), Sam, comes back into the picture, uncovered lies threaten Stella and Zoey’s friendship.
Moto: “In it to win it especially if it means breaking the rules.”
Fav Candy: Not one to practice moderation, she loves it all.
The Rundown: Michaela’s gone to school with Stella and Zoey since 8th grade. While Zoey wants to rule the school, Michaela wants to rule the world. She’s an insanely talented web designer, the founder of Wildwood High School’s Female Leaders of Tomorrow Club, and first in their senior class. She’s the voice of reason in their group of four. Michaela is focused on college, founding a monolithic social media company, and living for tomorrow’s glory.
Moto: “In it to win it by following the rules better than anyone else.”
Fav Candy: Candy? Candy rots your teeth.
The Rundown: Cole’s a breath of fresh air with her diamond nose stud, ex-hippie parents, and breathy enthusiasm. She moved from SoCal to Savage, MN four weeks ago, and Stella doesn’t mind answering all of her questions about Jeanie’s mysterious disappearance.
Moto: “SoCal for life,” and “Death to hipsters.”
Fav Candy: Vegan marshmallows
