Meet The Newbies is a blog event co-hosted by Dana @DanaSquare and I, in which we introduce you to all of the new kids in school, the 2015 debut authors!
Meet Heather Petty:
Meet Her Debut Novel:
Before they were mortal enemies, they were much more.
FACT: Someone has been murdered in London's Regent's Park. The police have no leads.
FACT: Miss James "Mori"Moriarty and Sherlock "Lock" Holmes should be hitting the books on a school night. Instead, they are out crashing a crime scene.
FACT: Lock has challenged Mori to solve the case before he does. Challenge accepted.
FACT: Despite agreeing to Lock's one rule--they must share every clue with each other--Mori is keeping secrets.
OBSERVATION: Sometimes you can't trust the people closest to you with matters of the heart. And after this case, Mori may never trust Lock again.
Describe your book in five words or less.
Mystery, Kissing, Tea, and Death (I am the worst at this.)
What’s your favorite part of being a debut author?
So many amazing things, but I think getting to know my fellow Fearless Fifteeners authors and reading their books has been my favorite part so far, but I haven't officially debuted yet, so we'll see. Really, though, there is an amazing group of authors debuting this year.
What was your favorite thing about the first day of a new school year?
Besides your own book, what is your favorite Sherlock Holmes retelling?
I refuse to take sides in this fan war on the grounds that I love them all the same. #diplomacy
What is your current favorite TV show?
I am a huge Korean Drama fangirl. Pretty much all of the television I watch these days is from South Korea. My favorite dramas (so far) include Healer, Master's Sun, You're All Surrounded, Flower Boy Next Door, and It's Okay That's Love. (...and Monstar, and City Hunter, and You're Beautiful, and and and...)
Did you always want to be a writer?
Actually, I was really into music when I was a kid, and then I really wanted to go into law. But I was always a huge reader, and no matter what track I was on in high school and college, I always filled my schedule with extra English classes and hung out in the library as much as possible. I have always been in love with books.
It is impossible to choose one (!!), so I'll go with my favorite authors? Anything by Patricia McKillip, anything from Terry Pratchett, and seriously anything from the 2015 debut list. I have yet to read one that isn't amazing.
