The Collector's Obsession

I've always been a pack rat. I keep everything. I still have library receipts from books I checked out over ten years ago. I keep ticket stubs from the Metro, silly notes passed around in eighth grade, torn open envelopes, the list goes on and on. Everything, even the most minuscule things, have some sentimental value for me.

Summer Reading Spots

Summertime means time for kicking back, relaxing, and reading (of course)!  With so many glorious days to spare, it seems as if we can go anywhere, do anything, and read any book we please.  Recently, I've been taking a book along with me on all of my summer adventures.  Here are some summer reading spots I've encountered:

Pokemon Go Tag

Aentee at Read At Midnight created an adorable Pokemon Go Book Tag along with these amazing graphics! I just started playing Pokemon Go, and it's really exciting catching new pokemon. Now let's go on to the tag!

A revenge that will consume her. A love that will ruin her.

Emelina Flores has nothing. Her home in Ruina has been ravaged by war. She lacks the powers of her fellow Ruined. Worst of all, she witnessed her parents’ brutal murders and watched helplessly as her sister, Olivia, was kidnapped.

But because Em has nothing, she has nothing to lose. Driven by a blind desire for revenge, Em sets off on a dangerous journey to the enemy kingdom of Lera. Somewhere within Lera’s borders, Em hopes to find Olivia. But in order to find her, Em must infiltrate the royal family.

In a brilliant, elaborate plan of deception and murder, Em marries Prince Casimir, next in line to take Lera’s throne. If anyone in Lera discovers Em is not Casimir’s true betrothed, Em will be executed on the spot. But it’s the only way to salvage Em’s kingdom and what is left of her family.

Em is determined to succeed, but the closer she gets to the prince, the more she questions her mission. Em’s rage-filled heart begins to soften. But with her life—and her family—on the line, love could be Em’s deadliest mistake.

The Promised Sequels that Never Come to Life

*This post started off level-headed and tame but then morphed into a rant. Apologies!

Sometimes I read books, and I like them. And I want more! The second I finish the book, I'll hop on Goodreads and plead to the bookish gods that a sequel is in the works. More times than not I am blessed with a "heck yeah!!" to the sequel. But sometimes the deal is poisoned by a far off release date, or worse, no release date at all. And that scares me.

I'm naturally an optimistic and hopeful person, but darn it, even I can admit that a book that came out in 2008 with no release date set for the second book is a bad sign.
