Seventeen-year-old Raychel is sleeping with two boys: her overachieving best friend Matt…and his slacker brother, Andrew. Raychel sneaks into Matt’s bed after nightmares, but nothing ever happens. He doesn’t even seem to realize she’s a girl, except when he decides she needs rescuing. But Raychel doesn't want to be his girl anyway. She just needs his support as she deals with the classmate who assaulted her, the constant threat of her family’s eviction, and the dream of college slipping quickly out of reach. Matt tries to help, but he doesn’t really get it… and he’d never understand why she’s fallen into a secret relationship with his brother. The friendships are a precarious balance, and when tragedy strikes, everything falls apart. Raychel has to decide which pieces she can pick up – and which ones are worth putting back together.

Julia's Trip Recap: Hiroshima, Japan

This past summer, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Hiroshima, Japan for about eight days in August.  Every year, two members from the junior class at my school are selected to travel to Hiroshima as "Hiroshima Peace Scholars."  It's been months since the end of my trip, but I can't stop thinking about the people I met and all that I experienced.

Your Guide to 2017

As you may know I love to keep track of upcoming releases. I stalk Publishers Weekly on a daily basis, and I love the question: What are some upcoming book releases? Below I've cultivated a list of books I'm ridiculously excited for (as you should be as well!). I've split it up into semi-practical categories and left Goodreads links for all the books. Keep in mind that some books fit in multiple categories, but please tweet me @yaperfectionist if I forget a 2017 book you know of and can't wait to read. Enjoy! And flail about these books with me in the comment section.

A Reflection on 2016

Oh what a year it has been. It seems almost cruel to say, but I've had a great year despite the election cycle, terrorists attacks, celebrity deaths, and racial divides that have wreaked havoc on 2016. It's been a huge year of growth for me. There is an immense difference between 2015 Rachel and 2016 Rachel.

Best Books I’ve Read in 2016

I can't believe that 2016 is almost at an end. It's been a rough year, but I can't wait to look back at the books I've read throughout 2016. I read only XX books, and I can definitely attribute that to a summer spent working and college.

Top Ten (First Half of) 2017 Releases I Can't Wait For

I have 301 books on my 2017 releases Goodreads shelf. It was a herculean task to narrow the list down, and I couldn't bear not to mention ANY of these 15 books. (I know... I cheated).
